Spring #1

Postby San Juan Sailboats » Tue Mar 14, 2017 5:51 pm

The weather for Spring #1 was not as bad as was predicted. We even finished the last two races in sunshine, OK, filtered sunshine.
The winds in the morning kept changing and the course was changed 3 times before settling on an east west course. Of course the wind changed 90 degrees and we had a Reach/Reach couple of races.
This was technical racing, not Tactical. Who can make their boat go faster.
After the second race, the weather pin was moved and we had somewhat of an up wind leg.
Chozen Juan, Mizu, Wild Juan, Juans to Be, and the Return of Jeff Tieken with #1800 were present. Juans to Be and 1800 were in Working sails, everyjuan else in Spinnaker class, Although no spinnakers came out this day.
I am always amazed at how close the racing is. The start is all important as the time crossing the finish line is almost the same as the time crossing the starting line. Jeff got a great start in race #4 leading the field to the weather mark. Wild Juan got the start in race #2 and kept it for the win. Chozen Juan got the start in #1.
Here are the Results
Chozen Juan 1,2,1,1,1

Wild Juan 2,1,3,2,2

Mizu 3,3,2,3,3

Juans to Be 1,1,1,1,1

1800 2,2,2,2,2,
